First ever blog here at WBH- www.washingtonbasketballhub.com/wbh-blogBoth no brain hires in our opinion. Good, qualified coaches who have experience with the programs they are taking over. Not going to be easy for either in their first year though. Both have challenges, but those challenges are very different. We've been hearing rumors from people in the Metro that it is OVER now that Kerr is at a private school and can make his roster look almost anyway he wants it to. Brilhante on the other hand needs to stop the trend of Beamer being the D league stopover for Federal Way's future starting lineup.

Great job on the blog. A few comments:
1. Agree on Kerr...should be interesting to see fast he sees success at O'Dea.
2. Glad to see the state tournament go back to 16 teams. In North Carolina there are "conference tournaments" followed by a NCAA style 64 Team State Tournament. For seeding purposes they use various means, including the elimination of 2 non-league losses (if applicable, but never eliminates in-league losses). I like it because it still gives you an incentive to play tough non-league games. One thing that I wish more states would use for state tournament seeding (vs. a "draw") is the MaxPreps algorithm used in Indiana(?) and Kentucky(?). essentially, MaxPreps gives you a RPI like figure based on 3 levels of W's & L's (Your team, your opponents, their opponents i.e. SK beat Gig Harbor and GH beat FW = some number).
3. Read what Coach Pitino had to say about Shaqquan Aaron...not good, "He just doesn't have a Louisville attitude," Pitino said. "He's not a Louisville man in terms of the way we practice, the way we go about it." "He's got a bad body. He's not thrilled with the weight room...He needs a makeover." Any thoughts on where he'll end up? Either way, I wish him the best of luck.
4. I'm looking forward to seeing the piece on why the best players can't be assembled on one AAU team to represent the state at the national level. Nearly all of the best players within King and Pierce county know each other...if guys can sacrifice "getting theirs" for Team USA, then it can be done at the AAU level as well.

Kerr at ODea should be able to win right away. They may be a state team next year but the talent is there to be better than last year for sure. In my opinion, that school has under achieved the last 3 or so years...mostly due to coaching. With the rise of ODea seemingly inevitable, look for Blanchet, Lakeside and EC to drop a bit. Of course Lakseside still enough in the cabinets to stay up for short term.
Also, with Garfield looking like they have the edge on RB at the moment (meaning Garfield will be top 15 NATIONALLY starting next year, and go ahead and pencil them in a Dick's NYC next year)...things could be interesting over at the "kings of the Metro" land (RB) as they have graduated everyone who has had significant impact in there back to back to back 3A championships. Returning really only super FROSH Kevin Porter, and newly added Sam Cunliffe (of course they have some better than most guards) but this team looks like they have some work to do...but a Beach team that is an "underdog" frankly makes me loose sleep at night.

Hoopfan- you left out Beach's best player in Keith Smith. They will battle Garfield, but need another big.
